Zone 1:

This area includes the major intersections of SE 82nd Avenue at SE Sunnyside/Harmony Road and SE  82nd Avenue at Sunnybrook Boulevard, each of which sees an average of over 40,000 vehicles  every day. A significant number of students and youth are in this area attending Clackamas Community College and La Salle Catholic College Prep or visiting the North Clackamas Aquatic Center, many of whom rely on transit, walking, and biking to get around.

Benefits of Transportation Improvements in Zone 1

  • Improves capacity and safety at SE 82nd Avenue at Sunnyside/Harmony Road and SE 82nd Avenue at Sunnybrook Boulevard
  • Improves existing bike and pedestrian facilities and completes gaps in the system, creating more complete access and circulation for walking and biking
  • Improves pedestrian safety with a crossing on SE Harmony Road at Clackamas Community College and increased visibility at the intersection with SE Fuller Road
  • Provides a “Gateway” opportunity into the Clackamas Regional Center traveling northbound from SE 82nd Avenue

Highlights of improvements coming to this area:

Zone 1

SE 82nd Avenue at SE Sunnyside/Harmony Road will be improved with two left-turn lanes in both north and southbound directions. Pedestrians, cyclists, and transit users will benefit from improved lighting and crossing facilities at the intersection.

Harmony Rd - Lack of Crosswalks (1)

A pedestrian crosswalk with center refuge island will be installed to help pedestrians cross SE Harmony Road at Clackamas Community College.

Zone 2: 

This area includes SE Sunnyside Road between the Clackamas Town Center and Clackamas Promenade from approximately SE 84th Avenue to SE 93rd Avenue. Improvements in this area are focused on enhancing the streetscape in the heart of the Clackamas Regional Center with improved pedestrian and bike facilities and new landscaping, lighting, and median treatments.

Benefits of Transportation Improvements in Zone 2

  • Enhanced streetscape in the heart of the Clackamas Regional Center
  • Creation of a new pedestrian and bike facility on south side of SE Sunnyside Road without losing capacity for vehicles
  • Improved pedestrian crossings between the Clackamas Town Center and Clackamas Promenade

Highlights of improvements coming to this area:

Zone 2

Shorter crossing distance between Clackamas Town Center and Clackamas Promenade on SE Sunnyside Road

Zone 22

New off-street path for pedestrians and cyclists to be constructed on south side of Sunnyside Road

Zone 3:

Improvements in Zone 3 are focused on meeting traffic needs at the I-205 Bridge through widening and completong pedestrian and bike facilities. The Clackamas Town Center Max Station, Kaiser Sunnyside Medical Center and shopping centers the east of I-205 \offer additional opportunities for increased walking and biking in this area. Additionally, the intersection of SE Sunnyside Road and SE Stevens Road farther east will be improved for better traffic operations and the addition of bike facilities. On SE Sunnybrook Boulevard to the south, the intersections with SE 93rd and SE 97th Avenues will be restriped and traffic signals will be modified to improve traffic flow.

Benefits of Transportation Improvements in Zone 3

  • Improves a major vehicular bottleneck at the I-205 Bridge
  • Provides pedestrian and bike facilities on the I-205 Bridge, connecting destinations to the east and west by foot or bike and improving access to the Town Center MAX station
  • Improves safety at two high-crash intersections – SE Sunnyside Road at I -205 Southbound on/off ramps and I-205 northbound off ramps at SE Sunnybrook Boulevard
  • Improves traffic operations and adds bike facilities at the intersection of SE Sunnyside Road and SE Stevens Road

Highlights of improvements coming to this area:

Zone 3

I-205 Bridge to be restriped for improved traffic flow, and widened to add sidewalks and bike lanes on both sides

Zone 32

Pedestrian signal  planned  at Sunnyside Road and I-205 southbound off ramp at SE corner of Clackamas Town Center
